NBSC RESEARCHERS SHARPEN GRANT-WRITING SKILLS AT REGIONAL DOST WRITESHOP
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) continues to enhance its capacity for securing competitive research funding through the active participation of its researchers in the Harmonized Concept Proposal Writeshop-Webinar. Dr. Mary Koren Witting-Acuesa, Director of the Research Development and Innovation Division (RDID), and Mr. Melven I. Valmoria, the Department of General Education Curricula (DGEC) Extension Coordinator, represented the college in the intensive training session held virtually via Zoom on March 03, 2026.
The initiative was a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Regional Consortia of Northern Mindanao. This partnership leveraged the collective expertise of the Northern Mindanao Consortium for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (NorMinCIEERD), the Northern Mindanao Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (NoMCAARRD), and the Northern Mindanao Consortium for Health Research and Development (NorMinCOHRD) to provide specialized training for member institutions.
Throughout the sessions, the NBSC delegation focused on the strategic development of research initiatives, navigating the specific priority agendas, roadmaps, and technical standards established by the DOST. The primary objective of the writeshop was to equip researchers with the specialized skills necessary to craft “fundable” proposals. By mastering the harmonized format and gaining firsthand insight into the evaluation criteria used by the regional councils, Dr. Witting-Acuesa and Mr. Valmoria sharpened their ability to translate innovative institutional concepts into viable, high-quality grant applications.
This proactive engagement reflects the college’s commitment to internal professional growth and the pursuit of competitive external support. By fostering the development of technically sound and strategically aligned projects, NBSC is strengthening its competitive edge in securing the grants necessary to fuel institutional discovery and scientific advancement across the region.
